A Message From Frank
Conservation and sustainability remain Marin’s best tools for insuring quality, affordable water for all ratepayers. Reducing our reliance on the Russian and Eel Rivers’ water benefits the North Coast fisheries and keeps pollutants from gravel mining, waste discharge and agricultural runoff from Marin’s water supply.
MMWD needs a new business model, one based on sustainability, not continued expansion. If we can properly manage our water resources right here in Marin, we will not need a desalination plant, ever.
As a Director for an Environmental Non-profit, a former 7 time Fairfax Mayor and California Coastal Commissioner, Co-founder of Friends of the Eel River, a founder of the North Coast Rivers Alliance, a founding Boardmember for Stop the Spray Marin and Pesticide Free Zone and as a SF Bay Area Coordinator and Community Organizer for Stop the Spray (successfully stopped aerial pesticide spraying for the Light Brown Apple Moth), I have four decades of expearience in public water policy and water resource related issues including rivers, salmon fisheries, water transmission and dam operations, and, the impacts of pesticides on people, fish and wildlife. This record of accomplishment in public policy and water advocacy has prepared me to tackle the tough issues facing MMWD in the days ahead.
I pledge to remain free of special interests and to put the ratepayers and our environment first, through enchancing conservation and sustainability efforts and using non-toxic methods to control fire and the spread of invasive species in our watershed.
Four years ago the Water Board promised to keep our rates low. Their record speaks for itself. They have raised our water rates 34.6% in the past four years and plan to raise them again right after this election. Help me protect our water and save you money at the same time.
Please contact me directly at 415.456.6356 or fegger@pacbell.net.
You may also contribute by mail. Checks made out to Egger for Water Board & sent to Friends of Frank Egger, 13 Meadow Way, Fairfax, CA 94930.
Thank you.

Can Marin once again become a leader in the state for water conservation and become self sustaining? You bet we can.
Frank Egger has a conservation/recycling/reuse plan and knows we can reduce our potable water usage by 1/3 and not effect our quality of life. The Central Marin Sanitary Agency’s sewer treatment plant in San Rafael dumps 8-11 million gallons of treated waste water every day into SF bay. No reclaimation, no recycling, no reuse. That water needs to be properly treated and used for non-potable applications. MMWD top ten water users include three golf courses and they should use reclaimed water for irrigation

See the Chron story:
Flushing water and money down the drain
Five public water agencies, including Marin and San Francisco, are looking at building desal plants on an already compromised San Francisco Bay. Marin’s is expected to cost $400 million to construct, finance and operate over 30 years and our ratepayers will have to pay through higher water bills.

Actor Peter Coyote supports Frank Egger because of Frank’s long time proven environmental commitment for protecting our North Coast rivers and streams, restoring salmon fisheries, working to reduce pesticide use throughout our region and his proposed, common sense water conservation and recycling programs.

PESTICIDE FREE ZONE on MMWD’s 21,000 acres: Frank Egger, the author of Fairfax’s landmark pesticide “Neighbor Notification” legislation and legal prohibition on the use of pesticides on the commons in Fairfax, when elected to the MMWD water board, will propose the codification and posting of a “Pesticide Free Zone” on all 21,000 acres of MMWD land. The MMWD’s current temporary suspension of the use of pesticides, is a direct result of the persistence of Frank Egger and the Town of Fairfax’s request that the District cease using pesticides in the Fairfax watershed. Water Boardmembers had assured Fairfax a year earlier that no pesticides were being used in the Fairfax watershed but Ross Valley residents continued to see both a truck spraying rig and backpack spraying going on in the watershed (a series of saved emails documents this info). The Fairfax Town Council then held a public meeting on the MMWD’s use of pesticides again last year and once again asked the MMWD Board to stop the use of pesticides. This is the reason the MMWD Board voted 3-0, with 2 members absent, to temporarily suspend the use pesticides pending a report from staff on alternatives…
