A Message From Frank

Conservation remains Marin’s best tool for insuring quality, affordable water for all ratepayers. Reducing our reliance on Russian River water benefits the North coast fisheries and keeps pollutants from gravel mining, waste discharge and agricultural runoff from Marin’s water supply.

As former Fairfax Mayor and Councilmember, I successfully fought to protect the Ross Valley from overdevelopment and to keep Marin GMO free. I continue to work with Russian Riverkeeper and other groups protecting our water resources. This record of accomplishment in public policy and water advocacy has prepared me to tackle the tough issues facing MMWD in the days ahead.

I pledge to remain free of special interests and to put the ratepayers and our environment first, through enchancing conservation efforts and using non-toxic methods to control fire and the spread of invasive species in our watershed.

We must find alternatives to giant storage facilities that can damage sensitive environments.

We must not rush to embrace an expensive desalination project without knowing its true impact on the Bay and costs to our ratepayers. And we must let our ratepayers decide through a vote of the people.

Please contact me directly at 415-456-6356 or fegger@pacbell.net.

Thank you.

Campaign News

Conservation/Recycling/Reuse.

Can Marin once again become a leader in the state for water conservation? You bet we can.

Frank Egger has a conservation/recycling/reuse/ plan and knows we can reduce our water usage 30% and not effect our quality of life. The Central Marin Sanitary District’s plant dumps 8 million gallons of treated sewer water every day into SF bay. No recycling, no reuse. That water needs to be properly treated and used for non-potable applications.

DESALINATION PLANT ON SF BAY? YOU DECIDE.

Frank Egger will demand that you have a right to vote on any desal plant.

See the Chron story:
Flushing water and money down the drain

Five public water agencies, including Marin and San Francisco, are looking at building desal plants on an already compromised San Francisco Bay. Marin’s is expected to cost $70 million to construct plus $30 million in infrastructure costs for a total of $100,000,000 that our ratepayers will have to pay.

ELECT FRANK and STOP THE TANK

ELECT FRANK and STOP THE TANK. Last year at the “Tank on Blueberry” meeting held at the Woodacre Improvement Club, the only elected official to publicly testify and totally oppose the “Tank” was Fairfax Councilmember Frank Egger. Frank stated that proposal was not only detrimental to the San Geronimo Valley but to the entire Ross Valley as well because of the 5000+ truck loads of dirt to be removed and transported over our public roads ( a majority of the then Fairfax councilmembers supported Frank’s no tank position). The District argued that the 10 million gallon tank on Blueberry Hill was necessary to replace an existing storage facility of 2 & 1/2 million gallons. Why do we need to quadruple the storage and why place it all at one location rather than disaster proofing the storage by dispersing much smaller facilities around..

PESTICIDE FREE ZONE ON MMWD'S 21,000 ACRES

PESTICIDE FREE ZONE on MMWD’s 21,000 acres: Frank Egger, the author of Fairfax’s landmark pesticide “Neighbor Notification” legislation and legal prohibition on the use of pesticides on the commons in Fairfax, when elected to the MMWD water board, will propose the codification and posting of a “Pesticide Free Zone” on all 21,000 acres of MMWD land. The MMWD’s current temporary suspension of the use of pesticides, is a direct result of the persistence of Frank Egger and the Town of Fairfax’s request that the District cease using pesticides in the Fairfax watershed. Water Boardmembers had assured Fairfax a year earlier that no pesticides were being used in the Fairfax watershed but Ross Valley residents continued to see both a truck spraying rig and backpack spraying going on in the watershed (a series of saved emails documents this info). The Fairfax Town Council then held a public meeting on the MMWD’s use of pesticides again last year and once again asked the MMWD Board to stop the use of pesticides. This is the reason the MMWD Board voted 3-0, with 2 members absent, to temporarily suspend the use pesticides pending a report from staff on alternatives…
